Emergency relief
In May 2008, Cyclone Nargis devastated the Irrawaddy Delta region of Myanmar with up to 150,000 people killed or missing. Mingalar Parahita, the orphanage near Twante where we had been working, was badly damaged. Some of the children were killed or badly injured.
While the larger aid agencies struggled to deploy aid, our experience and networks in Myanmar meant we were able to distribute immediate emergency relief.
