We are very excited to have recently launched a vocational training project to teach traditional weaving skills to residents of this partner orphanage in the western Myanmar.
We have trained one of the residents to operate a traditional Chin loom and have acquired three of these looms as the basis of a new looming workshop to be built in the orphanage grounds. Vocational training will be provided for other residents onsite using a “train the trainer” approach.
We hope that – consistent with our experience at other partner sites – the workshop will expand securing regular work that generates a sustainable income for the orphanage, and vocational training and subsequent employment for the older residents.
